Lambanog is an indigenous Filipino spirit made from distilling coconut sap. Traditionally, it was consumed during celebrations, ceremonies or even for medicinal purposes. It can be taken neat or infused with local fruits like raisins for a sweeter taste. The northern region of the Philippines, Luzon, remains as the main producer of Lambanog owing to its large coconut exports.

Buhos comes from the Tagalog ‘ibuhos’ meaning ‘to pour’. This references the old Filipino custom of pouring Lambanog into the ground before a drinking session to prevent spirits from disrupting the celebrations. The brand promotes this tradition by encouraging a positive spirit of celebration for any occasion – whether it’s a celebration of achievement, milestone or life.

The brand design is a combination of several aspects of Filipino culture and history. The main inspiration was the Laguna Copperplate Inscription, an artefact discovered in the North of the Philippines. The ancient Kawi script which was inscribed into the plate influenced the visuals for Buhos.
